54-0107 F-105B-5-RE Thunderchief
This Thunderchief is in the markings of the Wright Air Development Center/ARDC
while doing cold weather tests at WPAFB, OH and Eielsen AFB, AK in 1958. Spent
most of her career as a test aircraft. She is now preserved at the Hickory Aviation
Museum in Hickory, NC.
I finished the F-105 with Plasti-kote #387 Aluminum enamel.  You cannot apply it
to the model from the spray can. It comes out way too heavy. It has to be sprayed
into a jar so it can be applied with an air brush.  The  ARDC and Wright markings
for the aircraft and base were designed with Corel Draw  9 and printed with my
Alps printer.  I used clear acrylic rod to mount the model. I epoxied brass tubing
into the tail cone/fuselage for strength and the rod to slide into. The base was
finished and hand polished.
This model is now proudly on display at the Hickory Aviation Museum along with
the real 54-0107.
