The '69 Torino Cobra Jet was base on the Fairlane platform and was available in either the Sport Roof
(Fastback) or two-door hardtop. The Cobra was a no-frills Fairlane with only one engine available, the
428 cubic inch V-8. Optional Ram Air and C-6 Automatic Transmission were an option. The 428 cubic
inch V-8 was factory rated at 335 horsepower but actually put out more than 400 and the excitement
level was out of this world.
The engine block was finished with authentic Model Master Ford Engine Blue. Chrome valve covers
were stripped and painted Model Master Chrome Silver. I added plug wires with the correct firing
order, fuel lines, battery cables and heater hoses. Interior was finished with Model Master enamels. The
kit wheels and tires were used. Exterior is finished in Candy Apple Red, sanded and polished.  Bare
Metal Foil was used on all exterior chrome trim.
My brother had one of these so I figured I'd build one for him.  The kit was put out in the early '70s and
no longer available but I found one eBay. Definitely not one of the better kits AMT put out.

The 428 FE engine had some resemblance of a real one.  Part of one of the heads was missing. Had to use
epoxy to fix it. The valve covers were useless. I used a set I found laying in the spares box. The body is not
molded with any locating pins/strips to position the windshield and rear window where they should be.
Interior didn't fit with ought trimming the top front edge of the right door panel. Wheels didn't fit very
good in the tires. There were other things but I got it together.
