Tehachapi Loop
These photos were taken during my 1999 trip to Phan Con '99 held at Pt. Mugu NAS, CA.  After
the 'Airplane' event, I decided to do something different, so, I spent several days wandering the
California desert chasing trains. As you don't see trains like this on the East Coast were I live, I
just had to do it.
I had read about the Tehachapi Loop so I had to spend a few days there. I wandered to the top of
a hill near the loop where you could see the trains travel the whole loop. I also spent some time in
the town of Tehachapi. The trains come through there and occasionally stop at a track side
convenience store. Yes, one of the crew will run in and get coffee and such then the train goes on
it's way.

Check the links below for other Western Road photos.

My companion for two
days. It was nice to have
something to talk to while
waiting for trains.
